Human Resources Assistant – Entry Level

Are you organized, comfortable working on a computer, and interested in building a career in Human Resources? Road & Rail Services is looking for an entry-level HR Assistant who is eager to learn, motivated to grow, and ready to gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional office environment.

You don't need previous HR experience to be successful in this position. We're looking for someone who has strong computer skills, pays attention to details, enjoys staying busy, and is willing to jump in wherever help is needed.

This position will begin with a strong focus on data entry, recordkeeping, and administrative support . As you develop your skills and become comfortable with our processes, you'll have opportunities to learn additional HR responsibilities by working alongside our experienced Human Resources team.

What You'll Do

Daily Administrative & Data Entry Responsibilities

• Accurately enter, update, and maintain employee information in company systems.
• Process and organize HR documents, spreadsheets, and electronic records.
• New hire onboarding and employment paperwork.
• Assist with reviewing information for accuracy and completeness.
• Perform routine data entry tasks while maintaining speed and attention to detail.
• Utilize Microsoft Office programs, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Support the HR team with filing, scanning, document preparation, and other administrative needs.
• Maintain confidentiality when handling employee and company information.

Learn & Grow with Our HR Team

As you gain experience, you'll have opportunities to assist with:

• Recruiting activities and candidate communication.
• Employee records and HR system updates.
• Internal communications and special projects.
• Day-to-day HR operations and administrative processes.
• New technologies, automation tools, and AI-supported programs.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong computer skills with the ability to navigate programs quickly and efficiently.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to enter information accurately while maintaining a productive work pace.
• Willingness to learn new systems, processes, and responsibilities.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines.
• Dependable, professional, and willing to help wherever needed.
• Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
• Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.

Preferred, But Not Required:

• Interest in pursuing a career in Human Resources.
• Previous data entry, customer service, retail, or administrative experience.
• Familiarity with AI tools, automation, or emerging workplace technology.
• Experience using spreadsheets to organize and track information.

No HR degree, previous HR experience, or professional office background is required. We're willing to train someone who brings the right attitude, computer skills, and desire to learn.
